This is an annual publication assessing the state of health of Fylde Coast residents and for the first time has been written collaboratively by the Directors of Public Health of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Primary Care Trusts. the report provides a sound basis for making local decisions about health.

Core standards assessment final declaration

In summer 2004 the Department of Health published its Standards for Better Health - guidance on how NHS Trusts would have their performance assessed starting in 2005/06.

These comprise core standards that all NHS organisations in England should be achieving now, and developmental standards that they should be aiming to achieve in the future.

The Healthcare Commission objectively assesses NHS organisations in England against these standards to answer two questions:

is the organisation getting the basics right?

is it making and sustaining progress?

In 2005/06 NHS Trusts have been assessed against the Core Standards only and Trust Boards have to publicly declare the extent to which these basic standards have been met.

The attached document contains details of the standards and includes comments from the Patient and Public Involvement Forum, Lancashire County Council's Overview and Scrutiny committee and the Strategic Health Authority,

Wyre PCT has submitted its final declaration against these standards for the year 2005/06 and you can view these HERE.
